MEDICAL DOCTORS' DAY, A LESSON FROM PROF. DURU

Today is Doctors day. So I will tell an interesting doctor story from a TRUE life experience. A very good friend of mine based in&” Abuja Nigeria once had a very bad peri-anal itching. He didn't know what was causing it and tried several medications including topical applications which didn't work. 


He was too embarrassed to see a doctor in Nigeria so he took off to the U.S. But in the U.S the doctor he saw had no clue about TROPICAL medicine. There are certain disease conditions here that an American doctor will probably NEVER encounter and this is understandable. My friend (A well to do guy) spent over 5000 U.S dollars with no relief. He even had a fiberoptic instrument shoved into his rectum for the doctors to have a look but they saw nothing.


He came back to Nigeria still having the severe ITCHING around his anus. Then he remembered he had a friend in Lagos and then he called me. After giving me details of his symptoms and what he had gone through, I told him without seeing him physically that he was having PINWORM infestation. 


I asked him to buy a certain anti-helminthic drug that was broad-spectrum. The medicine cost him less than 2 U.S dollars in Naira equivalent. He took it and by the 3rd day All his symptoms had DISAPPEARED. Excitedly he phoned me and told me I am a 'WITCH'.  I told him 'not quite'. I am not a witch. This is routine TROPICAL parasitic infestation that any Nigerian doctor can diagnose even without a laboratory test. 


TODAY is Doctors day. We spend all our time as Doctors labouring against the ULTIMATE cure. DEATH is the ultimate cure of ALL sicknesses. If the doctor is not able to cure, death cures it FINALLY. 


Today I saw pictures of FATHER and SON, both  Surgeons operating on a Patient. Dr and Dr Eneh are father and son (See attached Photos). It's not often that father and son get to operate together on the same patient. Many kudos to ALL the doctors TRULY called to the Profession.
